Dedicated or dual-use lockdown and invacuation alert systems for schools — with distinct signalling from fire alarms and support for modern safety requirements including Martyn’s Law.
Schools face a wider range of threats than fire alone. RMEC supply and install lockdown (invacuation) systems that give staff and pupils clear, unambiguous instructions when they need to stay inside and secure the building.
Where appropriate, systems can share infrastructure with the fire detection system, provided tones and messages remain clearly distinct and priorities are correctly programmed in line with current guidance (including BS 5839-1 and FIA notes on dual-use systems).
We work with school leadership and facilities teams to understand procedures, then design signalling that supports those procedures. Installation is planned around the school day to minimise disruption.
Tones and voice messages that cannot be confused with fire alarms.
Pre-set messages for different lockdown or invacuation situations.
Can work with existing fire infrastructure where standards allow.
Designed around school routines, training and compliance needs.
